Advanced content preview and API extensions for headless channel

Currently, content editors face challenges when they are using headless preview because they cannot map specific content types to particular URLs, which limits their ability to accurately preview how content will appear on target frontend. Additionally, the absence of a robust webhook or subscription service disallows the leverage of real-time content updates and integration with other systems. This situation is further complicated by the difficulties in linking content seamlessly between the content hub and web channels, which impact content editor workflow efficiency and consistency.

To make our headless channel even more lovable and easier to work with, we propose a comprehensive enhancement that includes three pivotal parts.

  1. URL Pattern Mapping: We will enable content editors to map specific content types to predetermined URL patterns directly within the CMS. This will allow for accurate previews of how content will display on various frontends.

  2. Webhook and Subscription Service: We will introduce a robust webhook and subscription service to facilitate real-time content updates and seamless integration with other systems. This feature will ensure that all connected platforms can dynamically receive and process content changes as they happen, enhancing the responsiveness and interactivity of digital experiences.

  3. Enhanced Content Linking: We will simplify the process for linking content between channels. This improvement will streamline content reusability and management, reducing complexity and improving workflow efficiency for content editors.

Once we complete the first and second phases of Content sync, Content Editors will be able to transfer content from the preproduction environment to the production environment independently. For those who are accustomed to creating content in preproduction environments, we plan to enhance Content sync by allowing the transfer of Headless content items from Headless channels.
